Hytale Teleport: Commands, Crafting & How to Beat the Limit - Hytale guide

There are two ways to teleport in Hytale. Admin commands work instantly but require OP permissions. Crafted teleporters work for everyone but take some setup. Most players will need to craft teleporters since regular server members can’t use /tp.

Here’s how both methods work and how to increase your teleporter limit past the default cap of 2.

Quick Reference

MethodRequirementsBest For
/tp commandOP permissionsServer admins, singleplayer
Crafted TeleportersArcanist’s Workbench + materialsEveryone else
/spawn commandNoneQuick return to world spawn

Teleport Commands

If you’re running your own server or playing singleplayer, commands are the fastest option.

Basic Syntax

CommandWhat It Does
/tp playernameTeleport yourself to that player
/tp player1 player2Teleport player1 to player2’s location
/tp playername x y zTeleport someone to specific coordinates
/spawnReturn to world spawn point

Getting Permission

Commands only work if you have OP (operator) access. On your own server, grant yourself admin with:

/op self

You’ll see “You are now OP!” if it worked. To give someone else access, use /op playername.

On public servers, you’ll need to ask an admin for permissions. Most servers don’t give random players teleport access, which is why crafted teleporters exist.

How to Craft Teleporters

Teleporters let anyone fast travel without needing admin permissions. The catch? You need to unlock the Arcanist’s Workbench first, which requires some mid-game progression.

The Prerequisite Chain

You can’t craft teleporters right away. Here’s the full unlock path:

Step 1: Upgrade to Tier 2 Workbench

  • 30 Copper Ingots
  • 20 Iron Ingots
  • 20 Linen Scraps

Step 2: Craft an Arcanist’s Workbench

  • 10 Thorium Ingots (from Zone 2 desert)
  • 30 Linen Scraps
  • 20 Essence of the Void (from void creatures at night)

Step 3: Craft Teleporters

  • 8 Azure Logs
  • 2 Azure Kelp
  • 10 Stone

This recipe makes two teleporters since you need a pair for them to work.

How to Use Teleporters

  1. Place your first teleporter at your base
  2. Press F to interact and note the name (or rename it)
  3. Place the second teleporter wherever you want to travel
  4. Interact with either one, select the destination from “Target Warp”
  5. Step into the portal

That’s it. You’ll teleport instantly to the linked location.

Where to Find Azure Materials

The hardest part of crafting teleporters is tracking down Azure Logs and Azure Kelp. Both only spawn in specific biomes.

Azure Logs

Location: Azure Forest biomes (appear blue-green on your map)

Open your map and look for areas that aren’t the standard green. Azure Forests stand out with their distinctive blue coloring. Once you’re there, chop down trees with blue foliage, not green. Some regular trees spawn mixed in, so check the leaves before swinging.

Azure Kelp

Location: Ponds and lakes inside Azure Forest biomes (primary), oases in Howling Sands (secondary)

Azure Kelp grows underwater, but only in specific biomes. Your best bet is Azure Forest. Look for purple and white flowers poking above the water surface in ponds and small lakes. Walk up and press the interact button to collect them. There’s usually only one or two per body of water, so check multiple spots.

Azure Kelp glows bright blue at night, making it much easier to spot. If you’re struggling to find it during the day, wait until dark.

The Teleporter Limit (And How to Increase It)

You start with a limit of 2 active teleporters, which only lets you connect your base to one other location.

The limit increases as you collect Memories and deposit them at the Forgotten Temple.

Memory Milestones

Memories RecordedMax Teleporters
0 (start)2
253
504
1006 (+ Ancient Gateway unlocks)
2008

Some players report reaching 12 teleporters in endgame, but 8 is the confirmed cap at 200 memories.

How Memories Work

  1. Find the Forgotten Temple (marked on your compass from game start)
  2. Interact with the Heart of Orbis inside to unlock the Memory system
  3. Discover creatures as you explore. Each new mob type adds to your collection.
  4. Return to the temple to bank your Memories. They don’t record automatically.

That last point catches people off guard. You have to physically go back to the Forgotten Temple to deposit your Memories before they count toward your teleporter limit.

An Earthen Golem guards the temple entrance. Don’t bother fighting it. Just sprint past and enter the portal. It won’t follow you inside.

Pro Tip: First Teleporter Placement

Put your first teleporter right outside the Forgotten Temple.

You’ll be returning to bank Memories constantly as you explore. Having a teleporter at the temple entrance saves you the trek every single time. Your second teleporter goes at your base, and now you can bounce between home and temple instantly.

Saves a lot of walking.

Mods for Unlimited Teleporters

On multiplayer servers, the teleporter limit is shared between all players, which gets tight fast. These mods fix that:

ModDownloadsWhat It Does
Infinite Teleporters18.5K+Removes the limit entirely
Extended Teleporters12.8K+Removes limit + adds private teleporters and ownership

If you’re running a server with more than a few players, one of these is worth considering.

Ancient Gateway (Bonus)

At 100 Memories, you unlock the Ancient Gateway recipe at the Arcanist’s Workbench. This is different from teleporters. It opens portals to separate dimensions called Orbis fragments.

Each fragment key is single-use and requires different materials:

DimensionRecipe
Dragonspire Weald10 Cobalt Ingots + 30 Essence of Ice
The Dread Wade10 Adamantite Ingots + 30 Essence of Fire
Windrider Valley10 Thorium Ingots + 30 Essence of Life

Each dimension has a timer (around 6-7 minutes). When it expires, you get sent back. Bring what you need and move fast.

FAQ

Can regular players use /tp on servers?

No. The /tp command requires OP permissions, which most server admins don’t hand out. Use crafted teleporters instead.

Why can I only place 2 teleporters?

That’s the starting limit. Collect Memories and deposit them at the Forgotten Temple to increase your cap. See the milestone table above.

Where is the Forgotten Temple?

It’s marked on your compass from the start of the game. Usually spawns close to your initial spawn point.

Do I have to fight the Earthen Golem?

No. Just run past it and enter the portal. It’s slow and won’t follow you inside.

What’s the difference between teleporters and the Ancient Gateway?

Teleporters move you between locations in the same world. The Ancient Gateway takes you to separate dimensions (Orbis fragments) for timed exploration.
