Hytale Mithril: Why You Can't Get It Yet & How to Prepare - Hytale guide

Mithril doesn’t spawn in Exploration Mode. If you’ve been searching Zone 4 for hours wondering what you’re doing wrong, stop. The ore exists in Creative Mode and the recipes are in your crafting stations, but Hytale’s Early Access hasn’t enabled mithril spawns yet.

Here’s everything you need to know about mithril, plus what you can actually do right now to prepare for when it drops.

Why Mithril Isn’t Available

Hytale is still in Early Access, and several endgame systems aren’t fully implemented. Mithril falls into that category. The ore, the gear recipes, and even the crafting station requirements all exist in the game files (you can see them in Creative Mode), but the world generation doesn’t spawn mithril ore in Exploration worlds.

There’s another problem too: Storm Leather, which you need for almost every mithril recipe, is also unavailable in Exploration Mode. Storm Hide is supposed to drop from rare storm creatures that appear during severe weather in Zone 3 and Zone 4, but those creatures aren’t spawning yet.

The community expects mithril to arrive with a Zone 4 (Devastated Lands) content update, but there’s no official timeline from Hypixel Studios.

What Is Mithril?

Mithril is the highest craftable gear tier in Hytale. It comes after Adamantite and represents true endgame equipment. When it’s available, you’ll need:

  • Tier 3 crafting stations (Workbench, Blacksmith’s Anvil, Armorer’s Workbench)
  • Mithril Ingots (smelted from Mithril Ore at a Furnace, takes 30 seconds per ingot)
  • Storm Leather (crafted from Storm Hide at a Tanning Rack, 60 seconds per piece)
  • Essence of the Void (dropped by void creatures at night)
  • Voidhearts (rare drop from Void Eyes and large Void Spawns)

The gear offers significant stat boosts over Adamantite, with physical and projectile resistance bonuses on every armor piece.

Note: All Mithril weapons (except tools) require a Voidheart. You’ll need 5 Voidhearts total for a full weapon loadout.

Where Mithril Will Spawn

When Zone 4 drops, mithril ore will generate in the Devastated Lands, a volcanic hellscape with ash-filled skies and magma-covered mountains. Expect to find it:

  • Deep underground in volcanic biomes
  • Near lava pools and volcanic vents
  • In the Cinder Wastes and Charred Woodlands

Zone 4 also has a giant skeleton boss that reportedly drops mithril ore, giving you an alternative to mining.

The zone isn’t for beginners. You’ll face Emberwulfs, Magma Golems, Magma Rhino Toads, and worse. Bring your best Adamantite gear and plenty of healing items.

What You Can Do Right Now

You can’t get mithril yet, but you can prepare:

1. Farm Essence of the Void

You need 200 for a full armor set. Void creatures spawn at night on the surface, so don’t sleep through the night if you want to farm them.

The most common Void creatures are the ghoul-like melee attackers. You’ll also encounter Outlander Initiates (blindfolded enemies) and Outlander Brutes, which also drop Essence. One Essence per kill, so you’re looking at a lot of nights.

2. Farm Voidhearts

Voidhearts drop from Void Eyes (the floating eyeball monsters) and large Void Spawns. The best farming spot is Zone 3’s flat icy biomes because the white landscape makes it easy to spot the floating Void Eyes from far away.

You’ll need Voidhearts for:

  • All Mithril weapons (5 total for a complete set)
  • Upgrading your Armorer’s Workbench to Tier 3 (3 Voidhearts)
  • Backpack upgrades (1 Voidheart)

Expect to kill 10-15 Void enemies per Voidheart drop. Some nights you’ll get multiple, others you’ll get none.

3. Build Tier 3 Crafting Stations

You’ll need upgraded versions of your Workbench, Blacksmith’s Anvil, and Armorer’s Workbench. Get these built now so you’re ready when mithril arrives.

4. Max Out Adamantite Gear

Adamantite is currently the best gear you can get legitimately. Use it. You’ll need strong equipment to survive Zone 4 anyway.

5. Test in Creative Mode

Want to see what mithril gear feels like? Start a Creative world, spawn the items from the catalog, and experiment. At least you’ll know what you’re working toward.

The Mod Workaround

If you’re running a private server and don’t want to wait, there’s a Mithril Ore Generation mod on CurseForge. It hooks into the vanilla world generator and replaces a configurable percentage of Adamantite blocks with Mithril. Works with all stone types (Basalt, Shale, Slate, Stone, Volcanic).

This won’t help you in official Exploration worlds, but it’s an option for modded servers.

FAQ

Why is mithril in Creative but not Exploration?

Early Access. The items and recipes exist in the game, but the world generation and mob drops that would let you obtain them legitimately haven’t been enabled yet.

When will mithril be available?

No official date. The community expects it to come with Zone 4 (Devastated Lands), but Hypixel Studios hasn’t confirmed a timeline.

What’s the best gear I can get right now?

Adamantite. It’s one tier below mithril and fully available in Exploration Mode.

Can I use console commands to get mithril?

On servers with admin access, yes. In standard Exploration worlds, no.
